Samara needs five more metro stations. According to previous plans, one of them should be located near the railway station. The opinion on opening this station was also expressed by the head of the Kuibyshev Railway (KbZhD) Vyacheslav Dmitriev.

“We consider the construction of a metro station at the railway station to be a strategic necessity. This will have a positive impact on everything — it will reduce the load on roads, increase the level of comfort and mobility of the population, and the income from metro usage can be directed toward further development and expansion of the network,” noted Vyacheslav Dmitriev.

Currently, the Teatralnaya metro station is being built in Samara. In May 2025, the laying of the second tunnel began. It was completed on November 27. The head of the region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, earlier said that Samara needs five more metro stations. To develop a new concept for station construction, specialists from a specialized Moscow institute were engaged.

The head of KbZhD also spoke about the preparation of the project:

“In the event of a positive decision on the construction of the «Vokzalnaya» metro station, we are ready to get fully involved in this work at the design stage to create convenient approaches and synchronize our plans.”

There are also active discussions about the transformation of the station square. Rumors are spreading that they plan to remove the parking lot from the territory. Vyacheslav Dmitriev also commented on this issue.
