On the morning of Saturday, 31 January, traffic was restored on sections of federal roads in Samara Oblast. Restrictions had been in effect all night on two highways:

M-5 «Ural» (approach to Ulyanovsk): sections from km 294+500 to km 294+660 and from km 295+100 to km 328+400;

  • R-241 «Kazan — Buinsk — Ulyanovsk» (approach to Samara): section from km 326+367 to km 400+031.

    The highways had to be closed for safety reasons. The region experienced adverse weather conditions: poor visibility, snow, strong wind. Now the bad weather has passed.

    “On 31 January from 08:00 Moscow time, sections of the M-5 ‘Ural’ highway, the approach to Ulyanovsk, and R-241 are open for vehicular traffic in full,” reported the FKU «Povolzhupravtodor» (Federal State Institution Volga Region Road Administration).

    Updated: The highways remained open for exactly one hour. From 10:00, repeated restrictions were imposed on the same sections of the highways due to poor weather conditions. Traffic is closed for route and heavy-duty vehicles.
