In Yaroslavl, the closure of trolleybus routes No. 4 «Torgovy Pereulok — Fabrika Krasny Perval» and No. 8 «Ulitsa Volgogradskaya — Torgovy Pereulok» has been postponed once again. Initially, their operation was planned to be stopped in January 2026, then the deadline was moved to February, but now the decision has been delayed for at least a month.
As reported by the Ministry of Road Infrastructure and Transport of the Yaroslavl Region, «Additional information will be provided regarding the temporary suspension of routes No. 4 and No. 8.» According to preliminary data, trolleybuses will stop running in spring, but the exact date has not yet been determined.
The reason for stopping the routes will be the start of tram track repairs and the dismantling of the overhead wire on Oktyabrsky Prospekt. The work is being carried out as part of a tram system modernization project implemented by the concessionaire LLC «Movista Regiony Yaroslavl». During the closure of routes No. 4 and 8, authorities plan to increase the number of trolleybuses on routes No. 3 and 7.
According to the concession agreement, tram tracks, stops, traction substations, and depots will be completely renewed in Yaroslavl. For this purpose, 47 new low-floor trams have already been purchased. Infrastructure reconstruction began in the Dzerzhinsky District, where a temporary tram loop was built near the Rio shopping center to organize traffic on Bragina Street.
Earlier, regional authorities announced a search for carriers for two tram routes in Yaroslavl.
