The new road on Neftevetka in Vladivostok could be completed by September 1, 2026. This was announced during the program «Direct Conversation» (6+) with Governor Oleg Kozhemyako by the Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of Primorsky Krai, Alexei Ignatenko.

A resident of Vtoraya Rechka raised a pressing issue for many with Kozhemyako, complaining that he drives his child to school on Pervaya Rechka every morning, and the one-way trip takes at least an hour due to traffic jams. The man asked if the project could be finished this year.

Kozhemyako emphasized that Neftevetka, 100th Anniversary Avenue, and Makovsky Street are the most important streets in the city. He himself has repeatedly encountered traffic jams and even opted for alternative transport several times to avoid gridlock, which is why he discussed work on the bypass road with Vladivostok Mayor Konstantin Shestakov.

«Work on Neftevetka has already begun, but so far it»s organizational. This includes some demolition, some removal of the road surface, identifying illegal structures that have encroached on the right-of-way. Someone has moved fences,« the governor said.

Kozhemyako suggested that the first phase of road construction could be completed and asphalted for relatively comfortable travel by 2026, but Ignatenko predicted that the work would be finished before the start of the school year. The budget allocates about 350 million rubles (approximately $3.8 million at current rates) to compensate Vladivostok for the costs.

Additionally, specialists are completing the design for modifications to the Firsovskaya interchange, which will make exiting onto Neftevetka and Pervaya Rechka more convenient.

Discussions about updating this important road date back to December 2025. At that time, the Center for Traffic Management announced the administration«s plans to improve Neftevetka and subsequently the adjacent roads.

Currently, this road serves as a bypass, but only the most desperate drivers use it. Vladivostok residents have repeatedly asked to make Neftevetka passable, as it is currently the only way to bypass 100th Anniversary Avenue and avoid traffic jams. For the last two years, it has only been graded, mainly due to repairs on the Nekrasovsky overpass, but serious action began in 2025 when it became clear that the sole artery could not handle the traffic.
