Bus Company Counters Traffic Police Allegations Over Accidents

In response to traffic police claims, the bus company on Chelyabinsk's route 22 has provided video of a recent pedestrian accident, stating it was their only injury crash this year.

Bus No. 22 (22a) has been involved in only one accident with injuries since the start of 2026. This was stated on Tuesday, January 20, by the carrier Alpha, which operates the route, in response to accusations from the Chelyabinsk Region State Traffic Inspectorate.

The transportation company Alpha LLC manages multiple bus routes in the city, with route 22 being one of the busiest.

According to Ruslan Khismatullin, general director of Alpha LLC, the pedestrian hit on January 18 at a crosswalk on Kronstadtskaya Street was the first and only injury victim this year in an accident involving bus No. 22 (ChKPZ – General Brusilov). The company head also provided 74.RU with video footage of the accident moment.

“An administrative investigation is underway to determine the driver«s fault. The pedestrian did not ensure the safety of the crossing—they did not look at the roadway before starting to cross, and were wearing headphones and a hood,” he noted.

According to the carrier, the bus was driven by a 55-year-old Kyrgyz citizen with 20 years of driving experience in category D.

“Alpha LLC prioritizes road safety,” assured Ruslan Khismatullin. “Most accidents on route 22 (22a) are related to traffic intensity and insufficient road surface cleaning in winter. In 90% of accidents, there are no injuries; bumpers, windows, mirrors, and lighting are damaged, which does not affect the operation and safety of transportation.”

Previously, the Chelyabinsk Region Traffic Police announced that they would check the company operating route 22 (until 2026, the contract with them was under number 22a) due to systematic accidents: according to the traffic police, since the start of 2026, there have been six road incidents where people were injured. The Chelyabinsk Region Traffic Police reported that an error was made in preparing the material about the claims against this carrier, which is now being corrected.

The Chelyabinsk Region Traffic Police clarified that in total for 2025 and the beginning of 2026, 37 accidents involving vehicles of Alpha LLC were registered, and this is not only about buses No. 22 (22a).

“Of these, 12 accidents involved injuries, with 19 people sustaining wounds of varying severity,” concluded the traffic police.
