In the planning project, the metro station appeared long ago, but under the name Severnaya. In February 2024, the station was decided to be renamed to Botanicheskaya; why such a decision was made is unknown. The station will become an extension of the Leninskaya line and will appear on Krasny Prospekt near Dmitry Donskoy Street and the new Nobel residential complex.

As reported by NGS, the station«s construction is planned for the period until 2030. From the metro exit further along Krasny Prospekt, authorities plan to extend the above-ground part of the metro.

Currently, authorities are adjusting the general scheme for the underground«s development. It is being developed to determine the most in-demand directions and choose locations for stations. Preliminary versions have already been sent for checking using mathematical modeling methods.

Recently, the mayor«s office determined locations for two metro stations — Dzerzhinskaya and Chkalovskaya — on the new Pravoberezhnaya branch. Along the same route, the tram line will be extended from Trikotazhnaya Street to the Berezovaya Roshcha metro station. Experts note that the prospect of metro development in this direction is very distant, while the tram can be launched within five years.
