Avtodor Advises Postponing Long Trips Due to Heavy Snow on M-12

Heavy snowfall on the M-12 highway is forecast to disrupt travel in central Russia this weekend.
This coming weekend, heavy snowfalls are expected on the high-speed M-12 «Vostok» highway, which runs through Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. In connection with this, the state company Avtodor, which services the toll road, has issued an appeal to drivers.
In Nizhny Novgorod, the abnormal snowfall that has continued since the beginning of the week has briefly subsided, but will resume on Saturday, January 31. According to weather forecasters, up to 30 centimeters of snow could fall over two days.
According to Avtodor, several regions of Central Russia will be under the influence of a powerful snow cyclone. The bad weather will rage most strongly in Voronezh Oblast and the subjects through which the M-12 highway passes, especially in Tatarstan.
«Traffic on our network is operating normally, however, in some places, short-term difficulties are possible due to weather conditions or road accidents. Be vigilant! If possible, we recommend postponing long trips during unfavorable weather conditions» — wrote representatives of Avtodor.
They also reminded that in case of an accident or other emergency situation on the road, the emergency commissioners service is operational. They can be contacted for help at number *2323. Currently, 164 crews are patrolling the highway.
