Changes have taken place at the Togliatti football club FC Akron — the team has decided on a new leader. The appointment was needed after the departure of Konstantin Savichev.

«The new captain will be Artem Dzyuba. He has already led the team onto the field and demonstrates the leadership qualities that are important for a captain,» said head coach Zaur Tedeyev.

The captain is the one on the team who has special authority and can influence the outcome of a match.

Recently, representatives of the Togliatti football club FC Akron boasted about their first signing in 2026.

«Kevin Arevalo is a right-footed winger who most often plays on the left flank. His key qualities are explosive starting speed, a goal-scoring focus, and quality crossing and shooting. Kevin was noted by the sports department last summer, but due to various reasons, the deal could only be finalized now,» commented Akron representatives on the signing.

Dzyuba joined Akron in September 2024 after leaving Moscow«s Lokomotiv. In March, he scored his 234th career goal, becoming the top scorer in the history of Russian football and the national team in particular (31 goals).
