The age ranges in which residents of Samara Region decide to have their first child have become known. They were announced at an extended meeting with heads of territorial civil registry offices.

Thus, women become mothers around the age of 25-29. Meanwhile, the age of fathers ranges from 30 to 34 years. Also during the meeting, interesting figures about the oldest parents in the region were announced. It turned out that the oldest mother is 51 years old, and the father is 74.

Based on the results of 2025, Samara Region entered the top-3 regions of the Volga Federal District in terms of the number of registered civil status acts. The leading positions were taken by Bashkortostan and Tatarstan. The region holds the same position among the subjects of the Volga Federal District in terms of the number of registered birth certificates.

In total, in 2025, more than 350,000 citizens applied to civil registry offices for public services. On average, the assistance of the department«s specialists was required by every ninth resident of Samara Region.

Civil registry specialists and regional authorities note a trend towards an increase in families where third children are born. In 2025, their number increased by 17.6%.

If we compile statistics among all newborns, then firstborns are born most often in families — 40.6%. In 31.8%, the child was the second. In 6% of cases, it was already the fourth child, and in 4% — the fifth and subsequent children. In total, in the region, 537 families were counted where the newborn was the fifth. For 181 families, the child was the sixth; in 53 families, a seventh baby was born; in 29 — an eighth. 18 families decided to give birth to a ninth child in 2025, 5 married couples — to a tenth, and two — to an eleventh.

«In 273 families, twins were born, and in 4 — triplets,» added representatives of the government of Samara Region.

If we compare by gender, in 2025, slightly more boys (51%) were born than girls (49%). Most often, newborns were named Mikhail (536 times) and Sophia (403). Also in the top are Alexander, Artyom, Maxim, Matvey, Ivan, Roman, Lev, Miron, Mark; Anna, Eva, Vasilisa, Victoria, Varvara, Polina, Maria, Valeria, Miroslava, and Arina.

Another point is unusual and rare names. For example, in 2025, parents chose the following options: Vesemir, Ioann, Colt, Kosmos, Panteleimon, Savvatiy, Sever, Yaropolk; Avgustina, Zabava, Kapitolina, Lukerya, Matryona, Ophelia, Pavla, Slavyanа, Fevronia, and Yara.

Similar information about newborns is regularly published by local authorities. Every year on January 1, the Ministry of Health reports on the very first babies of the new year. In 2026, the first to appear was a girl named Anastasia.
