In Tyumen«s registry office, hundreds of marriages are registered. And approximately the same number of divorces. Some part ways after several decades of married life. Some decide to break up just a couple of years after the wedding. We asked our readers how long they have been married and why some of them got divorced.

Causes of Divorce

“After 10 years, we divorced. Drinking and fights… And we have two children. By the way, my ex-husband«s sister divorced after 20 years of living together,” a reader said.

“My wife left because I sometimes went on drinking binges,” a man briefly and frankly stated.

“He didn’t support me and sometimes didn’t notice me at all. And he also communicated with another woman, but I don’t know if there was anything between them. We lived together, half in sorrow, for more than 4 years and got divorced,” a Tyumen woman commented.

“She never had enough money. So she left for a wealthier man,” a Tyumen resident shared.

“One day she said she was just tired of living with me, her feelings disappeared, and she filed for divorce,” a resident recounted.

“My first marriage lasted half a year. I got married as a girl. I divorced as a girl. Back then, upbringing was just different. Now people live in a civil partnership, get used to each other, then get married. That«s good, a thoughtful decision. By the way, at the moment, I»ve been living in a civil partnership for 6 years. And I understand that it still comes down to the stamp in the passport. I am very happy,” a city resident shared about her experience.

There were also short comments about the duration of marriage:

“I was married 3 times, I don’t want it anymore,” a girl wrote.

“I was married twice. There’s nothing to do there. I won’t get married again. It’s easier to live alone,” a man firmly said.

“Our divorce happened after 8 years and 3 months,” a Tyumen woman left a comment.

“The divorce occurred for us almost after 10 years,” a woman wrote sadly.

“And ours after 15 years,” another shared.

Living Together for 50 Years. How?

Among the citizens, there were those who have been walking through life together for decades. Just look at how long some Tyumen residents can exist in love and harmony: from 15 to 50 years of shared life.

“17 years together, and the more time passes, the stronger we love each other,” a Tyumen woman honestly wrote.

“Porcelain wedding (that’s what they call the 20-year anniversary of shared life from the wedding day) this year. My husband and I went to the shooting range. Now I know that he’s not only stronger but also shoots better. The key to a strong marriage,” a city resident recounted.

“Already 40 years together,” a resident reported.

“50 years together (such a date is called a ‘golden wedding’ – in honor of the precious metal that symbolizes strength, purity, and nobility),” our reader wrote for everyone to see.

After this, some readers wondered: what is the secret to a long and happy marriage? The answer might surprise you: the ability to sometimes keep quiet in time.

“I don’t have that skill. We divorce once a year,” a girl joked.
