Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in person. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha. The Ukrainian leader wants to discuss territorial issues and the future of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Sybiha noted that within the peace process, these two topics remain the most problematic.

«It is precisely for their resolution that the president is ready to meet with Putin and discuss this,» the foreign minister told the European Pravda outlet.

He also noted that Ukraine intends to sign a 20-point peace agreement on settling the conflict with the United States. Then the U.S. will sign this document with Russia. The European Union«s participation is not envisaged in this process.

Sybiha added that negotiations are still ongoing and clarified that the European Union is nonetheless present in the peace process and security guarantee arrangements.

U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on settling the Ukrainian conflict. He noted there is significant progress in the talks.

«We are looking at some very good things on Ukraine and Russia,» Trump told journalists on 27 January in a Sky News broadcast.

He also added that a ceasefire could come very soon and noted that he wants an end to bloodshed.

«What about wrapping up eight conflicts and one more on the way,» Trump said in an interview on WABC radio.

Recall that on 23–24 January, tripartite consultations on settling the Ukrainian conflict were held in Abu Dhabi. Representatives from Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine participated. The meetings took place in a strictly closed format without the press present. It is presumed that they discussed conditions for a potential peace settlement, including security issues and territorial disputes. Following the consultations, the Ukrainian president stated that Kyiv would «under no circumstances» abandon its claims to territories.

A new meeting of the Russian, U.S., and Ukrainian delegations in Abu Dhabi is scheduled for 1 February.
