What to know about Voronezh regional deputy Alexander Solodov

Last year, elections were held in the Voronezh region. Residents elected deputies to the eighth convocation of the regional duma, while residents of Voronezh voted for the sixth convocation of the city duma.
56 regional and 36 city parliamentarians will shape the life of the region and its main city for the next five years. Who are they? To introduce the people«s representatives, we launched a series of publications called »Voronezh Dumas«. Today we focus on regional duma deputy Alexander Solodov.
Solodov represented the United Russia party in the elections. He won in electoral district No. 15, which includes the Verkhnekhavsky, Ertilsky, and Ramonsky districts. The deputy received 44,583 votes. This is an average result among single-mandate district winners in the region.
In the regional duma, he is the first deputy chairman under Yuri Matuzov and serves on two committees: on budget policy, taxes, and finance; and on transport, road infrastructure, and safety.
Alexander Solodov was born on 30 September 1957 in Lipetsk. From 1975 to 1977, he served in the army. In 1982, he graduated from the Lipetsk State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in physical education. In 1994, he graduated from
the Moscow Academy of the Russian Interior Ministry (MVD) with a degree in law. In 2003, he completed studies at the Kursk Institute of State and Municipal Service.
Solodov began working in 1982. Until 2012, he held operational and managerial positions in law enforcement agencies, the tax police, and the drug control service.
From 2012, Alexander Solodov became the chief federal inspector for the Voronezh region in the apparatus of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District. In simple terms, he monitored the implementation of presidential decrees, orders, and other decisions in our region, as well as the enforcement of federal laws and the implementation of federal programs.
Solodov served as chief federal inspector for 10 years, until 2022. He then moved to the regional duma: he won a by-election for the seat vacated by deputy and entrepreneur Andrei Khabarov. In 2023, Solodov became vice-speaker of the regional parliament.
He is married and has a daughter.
According to the regional election commission, in 2024 Alexander Solodov earned 14.3 million rubles (approximately $159,000 at current rates) — about 1.2 million rubles per month. Income sources include his salary in the regional duma, a pension from the Social Fund, an MVD pension, a compensation payment from the population protection department of the Voronezh Railway District, and income from deposits.
The deputy owns a 1,600 sq m (17,200 sq ft) land plot in Voronezh, a residential house there measuring 189.1 sq m (2,035 sq ft), and a one-third share of a 128 sq m (1,378 sq ft) apartment. He also owns a 2020 BMW X5. He has 10 bank accounts with a total balance of 45.8 million rubles.
