Source: Searches conducted at Krasnodar Krai transport minister's office

According to a source from 93.RU in the regional prosecutor«s office, searches were conducted in January at the office of Alexei Pereverzev, the minister of transport and road management of Krasnodar Krai. The reason was a criminal case initiated in Sochi under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (Fraud on an especially large scale).

The criminal case was initiated against four individuals: members of the Soyuz Dorozhnikov (Road Workers« Union) Safarbiy Napso (director of the Dagomys Road Maintenance Department) and Andrei Moskovchenko (vice-president of the union), head of the »Krasnodar Avtodor« department Anatoly Nasonov, and a former employee of the regional Ministry of Transport surnamed Vazhnov. The case involves other unidentified persons.

Also detained were two deputy transport ministers Alexei Smagliuk and Alexander Dashuk, who were implicated in the prosecutor«s anti-corruption lawsuit, which reveals a scheme to funnel budget funds into the shadow economy by two State Duma deputies and the »king of state procurement« in Krasnodar Krai.

As previously reported by 93.RU, the General Prosecutor«s Office filed an anti-corruption lawsuit against former State Duma deputy (stripped of powers) Anatoly Voronovsky, State Duma deputy Andrei Doroshenko, and Legislative Assembly of Krasnodar Krai deputy Alexander Karpenko. The agency believes they may have used their influence »for the illegal enrichment of themselves and controlled persons« through road construction and repair in Krasnodar Krai.

Voronovsky, as the regional transport minister, allocated budget funds for state contracts. According to the prosecutor«s office, the funds were received by a »narrow circle of companies« that paid a »kickback« for access to contracts. «Pereverzev is a continuator of Voronovsky»s unlawful activities in the position of transport minister,« clarified the source from 93.RU.

At the regional Ministry of Transport, a journalist from 93.RU was told that Alexei Pereverzev still holds his position and is at his workplace. When asked about the conducted searches, the interlocutor hung up the phone.

Alexei Pereverzev has been in the post of regional transport minister since 2017. He assumed the position after Anatoly Voronovsky, who worked in it for a year.
