Primorye Deputies to Remove Chemeris from Committee During Deployment

Igor Chemeris, a Primorye lawmaker, will serve in the special military operation for six months.
Deputies of the Primorye Legislative Assembly intend to free Igor Chemeris from the position of chairman of the committee on social policy and protection of citizens« rights during his participation in the special military operation. The corresponding initiative was put forward by a group of parliamentarians from the United Russia faction.
As reported in the regional parliament, the issue will be brought to the assembly meeting on January 28. The decision, according to the initiators, is dictated solely by work necessity: the social committee is considered one of the key ones in the structure of the regional parliament and cannot function for a long time without a permanent head.
“He went to the special military operation, he has a six-month assignment. There must be a head of the committee. The committee is the most serious. The committee cannot work for six months without a head,” PrimaMedia news agency was told by deputy Oksana Rybalko, one of the authors of the initiative.
She emphasized that the format of temporary performance of duties is only permissible for a short period.
“A month is the maximum. But six months is a lot. There are no personal feelings towards Igor Svyatoslavovich here. He was a good head of the committee,” Rybalko noted.
According to the deputy, Primorye parliamentarians respect Igor Chemeris«s decision to go to the special military operation zone, however, the social bloc requires stable and permanent management.
“It is his decision, we respect it, but the committee must work in a stable manner. Nothing personal,” she emphasized.
The initiative to free Chemeris from the position of committee head was also supported by deputies Alexander Zakharov and Tatyana Kosyanenko. The latter had already headed the social committee previously — after Chemeris resigned from this post in 2019.
Earlier, the press service of the Primorye parliament told VLADIVOSTOK1.RU journalist that at the January meeting of the committee on social policy and protection of citizens« rights, deputies considered and approved a candidate for, possibly, temporarily replacing Igor Chemeris in the post. Nikolai Alyoshin was appointed as acting chairman.
Now, according to unverified information from Primorye media, who will become the new committee chairman is unknown. Allegedly, the post could go to a deputy not included in the current committee composition. It is said that the regional parliament plans to place a new person in the position temporarily — until Igor Chemeris returns from the special military operation zone.
