Primorsky Deputy Volunteers for SMO, Replaced by United Russia Colleague

The new appointee is expected to take up his duties following the departure of his predecessor.
Deputies of the Primorsky Krai Legislative Assembly have dismissed Igor Cheremis from his post as chairman of the committee on social policy and protection of citizens« rights, after he volunteered to take part in the special military operation. They proposed appointing deputy Vsevolod Romanov from the United Russia party in his place, and the legislators supported the idea.
The issue was considered at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly on January 28, with 30 voting in favor and 1 abstaining, out of 31 present. According to the initiators, the decision is based solely on work necessity. The social committee is one of the key subdivisions of the regional parliament, and its functioning is impossible without a permanent head.
Cheremis«s colleagues have already emphasized that there is nothing personal in this decision, it is simply compliance with the regulations, under which the chairman cannot be replaced for six months. Deputy Alexander Zakharov will take Romanov»s place.
Vsevolod Romanov was first elected as a deputy of the Primorsky Krai Legislative Assembly in 2016, winning in single-mandate district No. 18. This district included the Nakhodka urban district, and the Lazovsky and Olginsky districts. In the assembly, he became the deputy chairman of the rules committee. In September 2021, Romanov won again in single-mandate district No. 25 and headed the rules committee in the new convocation.
Igor Cheremis, chairman of the committee on social policy of the Primorsky Krai Legislative Assembly, submitted documents to join the BARS-33 volunteer detachment.
“The decision was not easy for me, given the serious situation at the front and in the frontline zone, it was discussed with my family for a long time, and made with their support,” Igor Cheremis told VLADIVOSTOK1.RU.
Cheremis holds the rank of senior lieutenant in the reserves and submitted documents for the position of a traffic controller in the commandant«s platoon — a position that is typically non-combat. He himself confirmed the information about the choice of unit, but noted that he does not know what position he will hold.
