In Moscow, court proceedings against former Bashkiria Vice Premier Alan Marzayev continue. The total value of assets targeted for seizure from him and his relatives is slightly over 100 million rubles (approximately $1 million at current rates), according to Marzayev«s representative Elena Zakharina, as reported by RIA Novosti.

The defendants in the case include his mother, brother, sons, ex-wife, and the former official«s driver. In the lawsuit, the prosecution also seeks to confiscate a farm in North Ossetia with 12 buildings, a house with a plot, and several premium-class cars—totaling more than ten assets.

As Zakharina explained, the farm belonged to Marzayev«s mother Lydia Dzusova and was inherited from her husband, who owned the property since Soviet times. Other family property, also purchased in Soviet times, was sold in the 2000s, and with the proceeds, assets were bought that now appear in the lawsuit. The court postponed the consideration of the case to February 17.

Recall that Marzayev was imprisoned on bribery charges. The former official was fined 10 times the bribe amount—slightly over 561 million rubles (about $5.6 million at current rates). For more details on the case and each stage of the proceedings—see our compilation.
