Tyumen authorities plan subsidies to address wage gap

Authorities in the Tyumen region have stated that the earnings of the region«s residents are below the Russian average, and this negative trend has persisted for several years. This information is contained in documents from the Department of Investment Policy and State Support for Entrepreneurship.
«Since 2021, the Tyumen region has seen a lag in the average wage level behind the all-Russian level, with this gap increasing annually,» states an explanatory note to one of the projects, published on January 23.
While developing a new regulation on providing subsidies to entrepreneurs, the department included a requirement regarding the wage level. The salaries of employees at companies receiving support must be no less than 46,000 rubles (about $500 at current rates).
The document specifies: «The average monthly wage of employees must be no lower than 1.5 times the minimum wage established as of January 1, 2026.»
According to earlier official statistics, the average salary in Tyumen reached 112,000 rubles (about $1,200) per month. For example, data from the TFOMS (Territorial Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund) indicates that doctors in the region earn about 140,000 rubles, while managers at large industrial enterprises can expect incomes of up to 200,000 rubles.
