Novokuznetsk Perinatal Center Has Never Been Renovated in 36 Years

New equipment for infants and mothers was delivered to the maternity hospital in Novokuznetsk in premises that haven«t seen a major overhaul in 36 years. Originally, the building was planned to house a kindergarten, NGS42.RU reported on Thursday, January 22, citing the regional administration.
According to the authorities, the building was constructed in 1989 and was initially intended for a kindergarten, but two years later it was taken over by a maternity hospital. Since then, for nearly 36 years, the institution has not undergone any major repairs.
Last summer, cosmetic repairs were carried out in the premises, during which walls and ceilings were painted, and tiles in bathrooms, showers, warehouses, offices, and wards were fixed. Moreover, they completely switched to energy-saving lighting and conducted disinfection.
Additionally, in 2025, nearly 175 units of various equipment were purchased for the institution, including ventilators, ultrasound machines, incubators, monitoring systems, and more, amounting to about 50 million rubles (approximately $555,600 at current rates).
Meanwhile, as previously reported by NGS42.RU, in the same summer of 2025, violations were found in the perinatal center, and a year was given to correct them.
All about the emergency at the Novokuznetsk maternity hospital that occurred during the New Year holidays is compiled by NGS42.RU in a single story.
