Woman hits pedestrian in fatal Yaroslavl accident
The elderly pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being struck by the car.
On January 25 at 12:00, a fatal accident occurred in Yaroslavl. A Toyota Avensis hit a pedestrian on Aviatorov Avenue, opposite house No. 6 on Sovkhoznaya Street.
According to preliminary information, the driver was a 30-year-old woman. As reported by the State Traffic Inspectorate, the pedestrian was crossing the roadway at a crosswalk, but against a red traffic light. As a result, the driver hit a 77-year-old woman.
The pensioner was hospitalized, but could not be saved. She died in the hospital from her injuries.
The Yaroslavl Region State Traffic Inspectorate addressed pedestrians. Employees urged people to cross the road only at crosswalks and only on a green traffic light, while ensuring their safety.
«During the crossing, it is necessary to eliminate all distracting factors (listening to music with headphones, talking on the phone, playing on gadgets). At night, use reflective elements,» added the department.
The State Traffic Inspectorate called on road users to observe traffic rules and behave cautiously on the roadway.
«Remember, safety depends on everyone,» concluded the traffic police.
