Residents of two settlements in the Dubovsky District of Volgograd Oblast were left without electricity on January 30. They complain that power in their homes disappeared roughly from the morning and had not returned until late at night.
It is known that the villages of Gornaya Proleyka and Gorny Bakyley were affected.
«The most frustrating thing is not knowing what»s happening. We submitted a request for repairs and are still left in the dark. Many, of course, have centralized heating systems, but for the elderly, they run on electricity. Fortunately, it warmed up today,« complains one of the residents.
The press service of the branch of PJSC «Rossety-Yug» (Rosseti South) explained that a team of power engineers has already been dispatched to the repair site, promising to restore power to the villages in the near future.
«The situation is complicated by the fact that there is no access to the damage site; the road is washed out. Currently, road services are clearing the way for special equipment to pass. The estimated time for power restoration is two hours,» the press service said.
The disruptions were explained by an unusual weather phenomenon: the shedding of ice formations on sections of the power lines.
«Ice shedding is a phenomenon where, as a result of melting, ice deposits fall from the wires under their own weight,» the press service explained in one of its publications.
