Tram derails in Krasnodar after colliding with car

In Krasnodar, on the evening of January 30, a traffic accident involving a passenger car and a tram occurred on Dlinaya Street.

Around 22:20, a 26-year-old resident of the Novokubansky District, driving a Lada Granta, was traveling along Dlinaya Street from Krasnoarmeyskaya Street towards Mitrofan Sedin Street.

At an unregulated intersection with Kommunarov Street, the driver failed to yield the right of way to tram No. 8, which was traveling along the main road from Pashkovskaya Street towards Budyonny Street.

After the collision, the tram derailed and crashed into a metal power line support pole. Witnesses reported that the passenger car was traveling at high speed and literally knocked the tram off the tracks.

As a result of the accident, the car«s driver and his 21-year-old passenger, as well as the tram driver — a woman — were injured. All three sought medical attention.

The circumstances of the incident are being clarified, according to the press service of the Krasnodar regional police department.
