Traffic fatalities in Omsk Region reach record low

The number of people killed in road accidents has fallen to its lowest level since 2010, according to data from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Road accident rates in Omsk Region have been decreasing for the third consecutive year, according to data from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs published in the Unified Interagency Information and Statistical System. In 2025, there were 2,473 accidents with casualties in the region, which is 4% lower than the 2024 figure. The most dangerous month was June, when police recorded 251 traffic accidents, and the calmest was February with 131 accidents.
The reduction in fatalities reflects ongoing improvements in road safety across the Siberian region.

In terms of the number of road incidents, Omsk Region ranked third in Siberia, yielding the status of the most accident-prone region to Krasnoyarsk Krai (2,941 accidents). Novosibirsk Region, where 2,881 accidents occurred over the year, is second. For comparison, in Altai Krai there were only 353 accidents.
In traffic accidents on the territory of Omsk Region last year, 3,242 people were injured (–2.1%). Another 143 people did not survive, but the number of fatalities in accidents has become the lowest since 2010 (earlier statistical data are not provided). The maximum number of victims was recorded by the MVD in 2012 — when 375 people died as a result of traffic accidents on Omsk roads.
Overall in Russia, road accident rates decreased by 3.1% over the year, the number of injured by 3.7%, and fatalities by 3.5%.
Recall that Omsk drivers paid almost 1.3 billion rubles (approximately $13.7 million at current rates) in fines last year. Most often, fine notices were issued to reckless drivers.
