Top managers of sand mining company detained in Petersburg

Five executives of the company 'Cementno-betonnye izdeliya' (Cement and Concrete Products) were detained after searches. They are suspected of abuses in quarry development.

Employees of the investigation and the FSB (Federal Security Service) detained key managers of the enterprise «Cementno-betonnye izdeliya» in St. Petersburg. The operation followed searches at the company«s office on Narva Prospect.

As reported by the publication 47news, the measures took place on 20 January as part of a criminal case initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Leningrad Region. Operational support was provided by employees of the FSB«s economic security service.

According to the investigation, the actions of the suspects are related to the work of the «Vorontsovskoye-2» quarry in the Vyborg District of Leningrad Region. They are charged with abuse of authority and violation of environmental protection rules during work production.

Procedurally, five people were detained:

  • the main beneficiary of the company;
  • his son, who heads the commercial department;
  • the general director of the enterprise;
  • two other employees of the company.

The company«s office declined to comment.

OOO «Cementno-betonnye izdeliya», registered in 1999, specializes in freight transportation and sand mining. Its main clients are plants producing reinforced concrete products in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region.

The company«s legal address is located in the »Gepard« business center. According to the results of 2024, the organization showed revenue of over 3 billion rubles (approximately $33.3 million at current rates), but ended the period with a loss of 51.4 million rubles (about $571,000 at current rates).
