Classes at Lyceum No. 389 on Kronstadtskaya Street in Avtovo were interrupted on January 26 due to a fire.

The blaze was contained to a small area in the basement, with no harm to individuals.

Around 11 a.m., students and staff were evacuated from the building. People stood in the cold in indoor shoes; they were only allowed to put on jackets, and taking personal belongings was prohibited.

Firefighting teams and medics quickly arrived on the scene.

According to data from the St. Petersburg Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), the fire occurred in the basement, where two square meters were damaged by flames. The alarm was received by the duty officer at 10:30, and 20 minutes later, three firefighting teams extinguished the flames.

There were no victims or injuries.

The administration of the Kirovsky District clarified that 612 people were evacuated due to a minor fire. «Considering the frosty weather, the time spent outside was kept to a minimum,» emphasized the press service.

The educational process at the lyceum has already been resumed.
