Administration Employee Suspected in Child's Well Death

The suspect was detained and taken to the investigative department in Verkhny Ufaley, which, among other things, handles cases from Nyazepetrovsk.
In the case of the death of a nine-year-old boy in a Nyazepetrovsk well, a suspect has emerged — the head of the property relations department of the administration. The woman has been detained, and charges are being prepared against her, the regional investigative committee reported on January 31.
According to the Nyazepetrovsk website, the department was headed by Alena Gorokhova. Investigators believe that the administration employee showed negligence. She was supposed to identify abandoned wells so that local authorities could take responsibility for their maintenance. However, for the flooded collector on Yuzhnaya Street, this work was not done, and it was there that the child fell in.
‘Charges will be filed against the local administration employee in the near future,’ the investigative committee reported. ‘The investigation plans to petition the court for her arrest.’
Under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Russian Criminal Code (negligence resulting in death due to carelessness), various penalties are provided — from forced labor to five years of imprisonment.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on January 28. The child disappeared after leaving for school. During the day, social media posts appeared about the search for him, and then his body was found. The well was covered with a piece of linoleum and a layer of snow. It is known that the deceased was from a large family, and the parents are raising two younger children. Earlier, the investigative committee reported that a criminal case had been initiated for causing death by negligence.
