Actress Olga Chipovskaya Dies at 67

Honored Artist of Russia — mother of actress Anna Chipovskaya — Olga Chipovskaya has died. This was reported by the press service of the Vakhtangov Theatre.

“Deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, friends, colleagues, and audiences!” the theatre’s Telegram channel said.

At the Vakhtangov Theatre, the actress performed for 45 years. She was one of the most brilliant actresses of her generation.

“Olga Chipovskaya’s lyricism, depth, and charm were evident from her first steps on stage,” her colleagues note.

The actress was born in 1958. She graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theatre School in 1980. That same year, she joined the troupe of the Vakhtangov Theatre.

Chipovskaya’s stage debut was in the role of Solange in the production “Summer in Nohant.” Subsequently, she played the roles of Adelma in “Princess Turandot,” Mimi in “The Three Ages of Casanova,” Gabrielle in “Old Russian Vaudevilles,” and Veselkina in “The Barbarians.”

In the current repertoire of the Vakhtangov Theatre, the artist played the role of the Gypsy Khasya in the production “Smile on Us, Lord,” Maria Dmitrievna Akhrosimova in “War and Peace,” and Dolly de Vries in the play “Theatre.”

Chipovskaya the elder was also awarded the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland,” II degree, in 2021.

The theatre will announce the date and time of the farewell later.
