On January 25 at 12:00, a Toyota Avensis hit a pedestrian on Aviatorov Avenue in Yaroslavl. The incident occurred opposite house No. 6 on Sovkhoznaya Street.
According to preliminary data, a 30-year-old woman was behind the wheel. A 77-year-old pensioner was crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing, but against a red traffic light.
The victim was urgently hospitalized, but doctors could not save her life. The woman died in the hospital from her injuries.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Yaroslavl Region urged pedestrians to cross the road only at zebra crossings and on a green traffic light, after ensuring safety.
‘During crossing, it is necessary to eliminate all distracting factors (listening to music in headphones, talking on the phone, playing games on gadgets). In dark hours, use reflective elements,’ the department added.
Employees also appealed to all road users with a reminder to comply with traffic rules and be cautious. ‘Remember, safety depends on everyone,’ concluded the traffic police.
