11-year-old boy dies while tubing in Moscow region village

In the village of Nikolo-Uryupino in the urban district of Krasnogorsk near Moscow, an 11-year-old boy died over the weekend while sledding down a hill on a regular plastic sled. The incident was reported by the Moscow region police on their Telegram channel.

According to preliminary information, the child was sledding in an area not intended for this. During the descent, he suddenly rolled out onto the roadway from behind a turn and was hit by a car. The boy was taken to a hospital with injuries and later died.
This case was not the only one over the frosty weekend. According to the Telegram channel Mash, in various cities of the Moscow region, for example, in Dmitrov and Lobnya, at least 9 children were injured as a result of tubing. Among them were 4-year-old toddlers with serious diagnoses: traumatic brain injury and a broken collarbone.
Police are now investigating all the circumstances of the accident in Krasnogorsk. The department also reminds parents of basic safety rules. Experts advise choosing for sledding only specially equipped slopes where there is no risk of sliding onto the road. It is important to always stay near children during such activities and explain to them a simple rule: once you slide down the hill, move aside immediately.
Earlier in the Moscow region town of Ruza, doctors saved the leg of a retiree, who was hit at a bus stop by a 13-year-old schoolboy on a buggy — a small, light off-road vehicle.
