Prokopyevsk care home inspected after flu outbreak, violations found

Inspectors found no violations of the temperature regime in the rooms during the inspection.
A surprise inspection was conducted at a nursing home for people with mental disorders in Prokopyevsk by the regional Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. On Tuesday, January 27, the agency reported what violations were found in the institution.
Thus, at the request of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), the institution is currently fixing complaints in one of the showers. However, what they consisted of is not reported.
Also, contact employees were required to undergo testing for viruses and infections; those who refused or were found to have an illness were suspended. Moreover, since January 12, two workers have resigned from the home of their own accord.
In total, the institution has four buildings; the commission notes that multifunctional beds are used for residents with limited mobility. Also, the inspectors found no violations of the temperature regime. Heaters were installed in two rooms of the first building.
Residents ate five times a day and could choose from options for salads, side dishes, and drinks for lunch. The quality of food has been put under control by specialists.
It was also revealed that the home«s staff transported patients using two vehicles: a special one for people who have difficulty moving on their own, and a multi-seat one. No problems were found with fire safety either.
A week ago, an outbreak of influenza A was recorded at the nursing home. About 50 people were hospitalized with characteristic symptoms. According to tests, the virus was confirmed not in all.
In September, the institution«s cooks complained that rotten and spoiled products were being supplied to the kitchen and they were forced to cook lunch for the mentally ill from them.
