Kuzbass Ministry of Health Confirms Mass Infection in Prokopyevsk Boarding Home

Health authorities in Kuzbass have confirmed an influenza A outbreak at a psychoneurological boarding home in Prokopyevsk, prompting a prosecutor's investigation.

46 cases of influenza A have been recorded at the Prokopyevsk Psychoneurological Boarding Home. The regional Ministry of Health reported on Saturday, January 24, how the disease was detected in the facility and confirmed the presence of the infection.

According to the department, several days ago, two residents of the facility developed a high fever, and after examination, they were diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia. The sick individuals were urgently taken to a local hospital.

Following this incident, a mass screening for influenza A was conducted among residents of the same building. As a result, it was detected in 46 people, although they show no clinical symptoms of the disease.

According to the Ministry of Health, all those infected have been hospitalized in infectious disease hospitals in Prokopyevsk and Novokuznetsk, where they are receiving care.

The situation is under special monitoring by the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) and the Ministry of Health of Kuzbass.
