How are we supposed to maintain a pregnancy here? Pregnant women freeze in Volgograd clinic

Expectant mothers at a prenatal clinic in southern Volgograd say unbearable cold in the facility is detrimental to their health.

Patients of Prenatal Clinic No. 4 in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd are complaining of unbearable cold. They say that after procedures, they have to spend hours sitting at home by a heater to try and warm up after being in the clinic«s frigid rooms.

«They had me on an IV drip for 30 minutes, with small tubes, and I was shivering uncontrollably!» shares one of the women. «And the medical staff are freezing themselves: I saw they have a heater in the examination room. The girls who have been there longer than me say there was some kind of accident recently. But it was very cold even before that. The pipes are absolutely freezing. Everyone walks around in three sweaters, wrapped in scarves. And they make us take off our jackets! They even say: »Bring a blanket, hats, and mittens with you so you don«t freeze.»«

The patients say they can hardly imagine how it«s possible to carry out procedures to maintain a pregnancy in such harsh conditions, and they doubt that the freezing temperatures in the prenatal clinic will help lift the Volgograd region out of its demographic crisis.

«They gave me an antibiotic, and I literally ran to the tram, thinking I»d warm up there. But no, the tram is cold too. I got home and sat by the heater for a very long time, thawing out. Now I«m sitting here thinking about how not to catch something. How can you maintain a pregnancy, treat inflammation, when it»s so bitterly cold? Our birth rate has already plummeted so much...«

The V1.RU editorial office is clarifying the reasons why Prenatal Clinic No. 4 is not heated properly with the regional health committee and with «Heat Supply Concessions.»

As a reminder, we recently showed frightening footage from the central district hospital in the Uryupinsky district of the Volgograd region, where expectant mothers are freezing in the gynecology department. According to the patients, they are afraid of getting sick because the rooms are unbearably cold and there is no hot water in the bathroom.
