Snow Rises Upwards in St. Petersburg
On Friday, January 30, several rare natural phenomena were recorded in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region. The most astonishing was snow rising upwards near the Lakhta Center tower.

On January 30, residents of St. Petersburg and the region observed unique atmospheric phenomena, including solar and light pillars, as well as snow moving in the opposite direction.
Ascending snowflakes observed near the Lakhta Center tower due to unique air currents.
From the Lakhta Center tower, it was noticeable how snowflakes confidently flew towards the sky.
This is explained by ascending air currents created by the twisted shape of the building under certain weather conditions.
In Priozersk (Leningrad Region), a solar pillar was seen at sunset.
In the evening, light pillars appeared in Pushkin (near St. Petersburg).
Also, at the end of January, bright sun and colorful sunsets were noted, in places resembling the tricolor (Russian flag).
