School grounds in Yekaterinburg used for dog walking, raising safety concerns
A Yekaterinburg resident complained about dog owners who walk their pets every day on the grounds of School No. 121. According to her, the owners do not clean up after their animals and let them off leashes.
«How long will this continue? They trample the ski track, leave droppings. The second shift is still in school, and the dogs are not small! Are we waiting for someone to get bitten again? Other schools don»t have this. Training should be done on Metallurgov, there«s a special enclosure for walking,» outraged reader Lilia said.
Meanwhile, the owners who walk their dogs there assure that there is no threat to children or other passersby.
«There are no normal spacious areas around where you can walk a dog. At the school, all the children play and walk mainly on the other side, where the stadium is. And if there are no children in this zone, no pedestrians either, and they clean up after the dogs, then who are they bothering?» replied a reader.
The Yekaterinburg administration reported that they will conduct an inspection.
«We would like to remind dog-owning citizens of the rules of decency and the existence of a law requiring them to clean up after their pets. Moreover, the school grounds have a certain access regime that must be observed,» explained the city hall.
