On 20 January, at the age of 55, Samara journalist Yulia Galochkina passed away. She had long battled a serious illness, but it proved stronger, taking the life of the mother of three.
Yulia Stanislavovna Galochkina was a Samara journalist, publisher, and public figure who worked in journalism and publishing for over 25 years. In 1999, she founded the regional magazine «Samara and Gubernia,» and from 2001, she launched the publication «Lady Club,» serving as the editor-in-chief and publisher of both projects.
She was a member of the board of the Samara Regional Branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia and the Samara branch of the Russian Cultural Fund, headed the section on citizen participation in preserving cultural values and developing cultural activities of the NGO council of the Samara Gubernia Duma, and organized the annual training seminar for heads of press services of municipal administrations in Samara Oblast.
She was a laureate of the «G. Shabanov Award for Both Skill and Candor» (2019), twice won the «Woman of the Year of Samara Oblast» competition (2002, 2013), and repeatedly received thanks and honorary certificates from the government of Samara Oblast, ministries, agencies, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, and other organizations.

«Yulia Stanislavovna was a bright symbol of Samara culture, a kind person who loved life and people,» wrote Boris Kotsenko, a festival organizer and singer-songwriter, on the publisher«s social media page.

The farewell ceremony will take place on 22 January at 11:00 at the Church in Honor of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous the Wonderworker (Sovetskoy Armii Street, 251B).
