Residents of Volgograd Suburb Go Half a Year Without Mail

In the Raduzhny settlement of the Gorodishchensky district, Volgograd region, residents have faced multi-month delays in receiving postal mail due to the absence of postal workers in the locality.
The situation became clear when information appeared in a local chat that letters for Raduzhny were at the board of the neighboring garden non-profit partnership (SNT) «Sputnik» in the Aeroport settlement.
The message stated: «Good morning. Letters for the Raduzhny settlement have been handed over from the Novaya Nadezhda post office. They can be picked up at the SNT «Sputnik» board building, Aeroport settlement.»
Residents had questions about the legality of handing over their personal correspondence to a third party. The chairman of SNT «Sputnik» explained that she received a bag of mail for her partnership, and letters addressed to Raduzhny were accidentally in it.
She stated: «I was given a huge bag of mail for SNT «Sputnik» Aeroport, but when sorting the mail, letters for the Raduzhny settlement were found among ours. None of them require notifications; there are only simple letters there. I have a power of attorney to receive mail for the SNT. Your letters got here by mistake. Shall we argue about my authority, or will someone simply pick up the mail and distribute it to the villagers?»
One local resident reported picking up two letters dated August 2025, as well as a letter for neighbors from Belarus that had been awaited for nine months. According to her, the settlement has long lacked not only a postal worker but also a post office, leading to chronic delivery delays.
Lawyer Natalya Popova noted that a delay in letters for more than nine months constitutes a gross violation of postal communication laws. She recommended that affected parties file complaints with Russian Post, Roskomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media), and the prosecutor«s office to conduct an inspection and hold those responsible accountable.
The specialist proposed the following action plan:
- Step 1: Official appeal to Russian Post demanding an investigation into the situation.
- Step 2: Filing complaints with the supervisory authorities—the prosecutor«s office and Roskomnadzor.
- Step 3: Preparing a collective appeal from the settlement»s residents to strengthen the effect.
At the time of preparing this material, the press service of Russian Post had not responded to a request for comment on the incident.
