Memorial Raid 'Hot Snow' Launches Near Volgograd

In honor of the Day of the Defeat of Nazi German Troops at Stalingrad, the off-road club «Stalingrad Trophy» has once again organized the «Hot Snow» memorial raid. As part of the event, car enthusiasts will drive along the right bank of the Don River in the Ilovlinsky District and pay tribute to fallen soldiers.

Participation requires a vehicle with 4x4 wheel drive.

— This year, we tried to make the route interesting and educational, — the organizers said. — It will pass directly through battle sites and occupied territories. The route will go through the Ilovlinsky District, as last year, but only along the right bank of the Don River, where we have never been before, but we must definitely honor the memory of the fallen heroes, defenders of Stalingrad.

The organizers name the goals of the event as cleaning up memorial sites, laying wreaths, and honoring the memory of fallen defenders of the homeland with a minute of silence.
The drivers started at 08:00 from the territory of the Rossoshki memorial complex. Everything needed for participation was a civilian vehicle with 4x4 wheel drive, if possible a radio, a cable, a shovel, a broom, a sober driver, a supply of food, a thermos with tea, and 2000–2500 rubles (approximately $22–$28 at current rates), which, according to the organizers, went to purchase wreaths and other organizational expenses.
