Ural Food Blogger Exposes Starch-Based Sausage – Check Your Fridge

Nikita Kravchenko, a 36-year-old food blogger from Nizhny Tagil known as Krava Nakormit, explains how to test the quality of sausage and cheese at home. Watch the video above to see which products are worth buying.

For his experiment, the blogger selected popular brands across various price ranges. They all look identical, so it«s impossible to tell which ones are high quality just by sight.

The first and easiest way to test sausage is with iodine.
«Just add a small drop. If it turns dark, that»s a bad sign, indicating a high starch content,« explained Nikita Kravchenko.
You can use the same method to test cheese. However, to be sure of its quality, pour boiling water over a piece; if it doesn«t melt, it»s best to avoid that product.
For dry-cured sausage, you can use any 40% alcohol drink, such as vodka. If the vodka«s color remains unchanged, the sausage is safe to eat.
«In conclusion, even among budget products, there are decent ones available. Don»t be deceived!« the blogger summarized.
Nikita started making videos five years ago and now has millions of views and hundreds of thousands of followers. He told E1.RU that he stumbled into this field by chance, having no prior interest in cooking and never expecting it to become such a passion. Read his full story here.
Previously, in Yekaterinburg, butter was put to the test. Samples from various manufacturers were examined to determine their quality. The results were surprising: in a test organized by E1.RU along with the Sverdlovsk Region Public Control Committee, only 3 out of 15 purchased packs passed.
