Prices creep up in Murmansk Region stores over the week

In the last week of January, a noticeable redistribution of prices for everyday food products occurred at retail outlets in the Kola Arctic. An analysis conducted by Murmanskstat specialists from January 20 to 26 showed that some items have become noticeably more expensive.
The greatest increase was recorded for onions — their average price rose by almost 3% and exceeded 60 rubles (about $1 at current rates) per kilogram. The price of polished rice also went up, adding more than 2% and approaching 180 rubles (about $2). Potatoes did not remain on the sidelines either — their price rose by almost 2%. Table salt and fresh white cabbage also became more expensive, albeit slightly but steadily.
Against the backdrop of general growth, only two products showed a decrease. Carrots became almost 3% cheaper, and granulated sugar — by more than one and a half percent. Prices for other essential goods during the reporting period remained almost unchanged.
