Moscow region foragers share October mushroom finds

Mushroom foragers highlight productive spots and species across Moscow and the surrounding region.
Cold weather is approaching soon, and the mushroom foraging season is coming to an end. However, in the forests of Moscow and the Moscow region, entire clearings can still be found — amid the inclement weather, a new wave of mushrooms has emerged. MSK1.RU shows which mushrooms can still be collected in time and where to search for them.
Mushroom pickers in Kommunarka have shared images of an unusual harvest. They discovered «one of the most photogenic mushrooms» — the violet row. Similar finds were reported by residents of Mozhaisk, Solnechnogorsk, and Orekhovo-Zuyevo.

Butter mushrooms and chanterelles are among the varieties harvested in baskets from local forests.

A user shares images of vibrant and firm mushrooms collected during recent foraging trips.
«Not many mushrooms yet, they are just beginning to pop up. Lots of little ones, so adorable — small and firm,» a mushroom hunter shared.
Numerous varieties of mushrooms are also found in the Orekhovo-Zuyevsky district. Butter mushrooms, chanterelles, and others are being harvested in baskets.
«The mushrooms are vibrant, firm, and clean. It is far too early to pack up the baskets; now is the time to sharpen knives,» a user reported.
The Istra district is abundant with winter honey mushrooms (Flammulina) and porcini mushrooms.
In the woods around Likino-Dulyovo, Voskresensk, and Korolyov, Moscow region residents have discovered exceptionally large oyster mushrooms.
«Today we found 3 kilograms. It is the first time I have seen such plump ones,» wrote Kirill Ryabov from Korolyov.
In the Kupavna forests, one can find one of the most tasty mushrooms — the Polish mushroom.

Polish mushrooms discovered in Kupavna are praised for their delicious flavor and quality.
In the village of Yelkino near Voskresensk, there are «loads of hygrophorus, butter mushrooms, and green russulas.» The latter are considered conditionally edible, so they must be thoroughly cooked before eating.
«Abundant hygrophorus, perfect size. Butter mushrooms are emerging. Many green russulas, but mostly mature ones, though young ones are popping up too. We gathered for 3 hours. On the return trip, we checked out similar pine forests of comparable size, and the mushroom situation is identical, but there is absolutely no one else around. The season is still on,» a mushroom hunter shared.
