Cucumber prices rise in Tyumen: official data

Residents of Tyumen Oblast have noted a significant increase in cucumber prices, which is confirmed by official statistics.

According to Tyumenstat, at the beginning of January, the average price per kilogram of cucumbers in the oblast was 291.22 rubles (about $3 at current rates), and in Tyumen it was 291.19 rubles (about $3). Already in the period from January 13 to 19, the cost rose to 311.18 and 314.72 rubles respectively (about $3 each), with the increase being more pronounced in the city.

Price increases have been observed for several months in a row.

As the Central Bank pointed out in its inflation report for December 2025, «in December, cucumbers became more expensive again, which is associated with an increase in costs for heating and electricity for producers of greenhouse products.»

In stores, prices may differ from average statistical indicators:
- In Lenta, a long-fruited cucumber costs 124.99 rubles per piece (about $1), mid-fruited smooth ones — 184.99 rubles (about $2), and short-fruited spiky ones — 224.99 rubles per 500 grams (about $2).
- Auchan offers mid-fruited cucumbers for 129.99 rubles (about $1), other varieties — more than 200 rubles (about $2), with discounted items at 349.99 rubles (about $4).
- In Pyaterochka, a long cucumber is sold for 149.99 rubles (about $1), short-fruited (450 g) — for 269.99 rubles (about $3), and mid-fruited (1 kg) — for 315.99 rubles (about $3).
- Magnit sells mid-fruited cucumbers at a discount for 134.99 rubles per 500 grams (about $1), short-fruited — for 224.5 rubles (about $2).
