Ryazan resident owes 2 million in child support, faces criminal case

A resident of the Korablinsky District owed about two million rubles (approximately $22,200 at current rates) in child support. For non-payment without a valid reason, a protocol was drawn up against the 52-year-old father, and now a criminal case has been initiated. This was reported by the prosecutor«s office of the Ryazan Region.
The man was able-bodied and could have found a job to pay child support. But, as preliminary investigation authorities established, the father deliberately failed to comply with the corresponding court decision.
The father owed child support for two underage children.
For repeated intentional evasion of child support, a criminal case has been initiated against the Ryazan resident. He faces imprisonment, forced or correctional labor for up to a year.
The criminal case will be considered in court.
