Millionaire Khubutia Reveals His Side in Yulia Van Axe Attack Case

In 2025, model and businesswoman Yulia Van accused millionaire and former trade minister of Moscow Oblast Mikhail Khubutia of attacking her with an axe. The court placed him under eight months of house arrest, and in December gave him a one-year suspended sentence and ordered him to pay compensation for treatment. But the story did not end there. While Yulia says she continues to receive threats, Mikhail has taken the opportunity to speak out and make his confession.

‘I Cannot Live a Lie with My Wife’

The millionaire met Yulia through a manager. He planned to spend only one night with the girl, for which he paid $10,000. However, fate brought them together again after a concert by a mutual acquaintance, Yuri Rozum.

Mikhail did not refuse such a pleasant acquaintance and went with Yulia to Suzdal. During the trip, Van came up with a profitable scheme why Khubutia should continue to see her and not someone else.

‘I came up with a business package for you. You give me exactly a million rubles (approximately $10,000 at current rates) per month, I give you a gold card. It includes 10 nights, 2 dances in different costumes, and 3 outings. That’s 100,000 rubles (about $1,000 at current rates) per night, practically a gift, a stroke of luck since you«re buying in bulk,’ says Yulia in a video provided by Khubutia.

The plan interested the millionaire, and their meetings continued. Yulia knew that Mikhail had a wife, with whom he did not plan to divorce, and he was aware that he was not the only one with whom the model spent time. Mikhail showed a video where the girl openly spoke about another suitor and offered to pay her so that all attention would be on Khubutia.

‘Men appeared very often in her life, and she always told me about it. Why hide it? There are correspondences where I tell her: “Yul, when you arrange your life for the long term, then I’ll think about how to tell the whole truth. I cannot live a lie with my wife,”’ Khubutia confesses on the show ‘Malahov’ (16+).

Mikhail did not deny Yulia anything: rest, shopping — everything she wanted. After a while, the man himself is surprised by his generosity and suspects that black magic was involved and that he might have been drugged.

‘She poured drinks and did not hide it. Her mother was involved with herbs, and in general — Morozovsk (the place Yulia is from. — Ed.) is considered a place where there is witchcraft, and people even come from Rostov,’ Mikhail is sure.

‘I Very Much Doubt That This Is My Child’

Whatever methods Yulia used, she could not completely captivate Mikhail. Khubutia continued to hurry home to his wife Eka, with whom he has spent his entire life. Together in 2018, they experienced the death of their son and jointly came to the thought that they wanted to try to have another child. Eka suggested surrogacy, but for that, material needed to be collected. Khubutia turned to Yulia for help.

‘She was supposed to help me. But it didn’t work out. We parted ways on this, and in January she tells me: “Mish, I’m pregnant.” She did everything to not give up the material but to keep it for herself and get pregnant. I am a believer and a decent person — you deceived me, but I will not abandon you. Now I very much doubt that this is my child. I am convinced that she was simultaneously meeting with different people,’ Mikhail said.

The couple had a daughter, Nicole. Mikhail believed he should take care of the mother of his child and bought a house, a car, and a business for Yulia. He also regularly brought groceries and paid for a nanny for the daughter. According to the millionaire, Yulia could not be called such a diligent parent. After another time when he found out that she did not spend the night at home, they had a conflict.

‘The nanny called me the day before and said that madam did not spend the night at home, but promised the child she would be home. The child started crying in the morning, doesn’t want to go to kindergarten or anywhere. She has hysterics. I said I would come and talk, but only in your presence. She knew I was coming,’ Mikhail recounts the fatal night.

The millionaire does not deny it; he hit Yulia, but that’s all. The blood and cuts Mikhail calls a thought-out plan by Van to discredit him. In confirmation of his words, Khubutia reminds that his daughter did not hear her mother’s screams, although she was in the next room.

‘Well, yes, I slapped her, but she initiated it, and there are witnesses to this — the nanny, who was made a scapegoat,’ admits Mikhail. ‘It was all carefully prepared. She wouldn’t have had the brains to come up with this alone. She had a team with her boyfriend.’

Mikhail also showed what the axe he allegedly used to chop up Yulia actually looked like. Such a ‘weapon’ Khubutia carries to collect small wood chips for a samovar.

‘Yes, she is right. I had an axe, two,’ jokingly handing Malahov tools smaller than a handle.

He learned about the attack and the video where the mother of his child is bleeding only the next morning when he was called in for questioning. Khubutia adds that he wants this story to be left in the past as soon as possible. For him, his wife is now the priority, from whom he begged forgiveness all the months of his arrest.

‘It was terrible. I consider it a betrayal,’ Eka spoke up. ‘I was not in Moscow. I flew in, talked to him. I felt very sorry for him because he was worked on. It still hurts me very much, and I think it will be like that for a long time. But such is fate.’

To start a new chapter in their family, at the end of the program, Mikhail proposed to his wife again. She agreed.
