Yugra Fishermen Share Stunning Winter Scenes Despite -30°C Cold

In Yugra, temperatures have been raging at -25 to -38 degrees Celsius (-13 to -36°F) for a couple of weeks, but it doesn«t stop avid fishermen. They dress warmly, take their gear, and leave the crowded cities for water bodies. Moreover, few manage to make a good catch now, while others pull out only a few modest specimens.

But it seems that what lures Yugra residents to fishing is not trophies, but the mesmerizing nature that can be admired in silence. Look at the shots they share on social media.

Experienced fisherman Igor Zinchenko went to a lake near Surgut the day before. The frost and wind didn«t scare him: the Yugra resident felt it was »a pity to waste a day off, just sitting on the couch.« According to him, the snowdrifts are knee-deep in places, and it»s not even worth venturing without skis.

«I walked 4.5 km, there is perch, but it»s solitary and small. The larger fish were just sniffing the treble hook and moving away. Usually, I catch with sport lures there, but today I couldn«t figure it out; some they completely ignored, and on others, there were many nibbles and that»s it,« Zinchenko said.

Another fisherman, Sergei Tarasenko, went out hunting for pike. Usually, toothy ones of 8–10 kg are caught by Yugra residents both in winter and summer. But this season is not rich in trophies yet. Sergei, despite persistent searches across the water body, managed to catch two medium-sized pike, which he then released.

«The fish are inactive today; in total, I got five more bites, two landed. Apparently, the weather has subdued the toothy one,» wrote the Yugra resident.
