Vanya Dmitrienko reveals embarrassing childhood secrets on show

In 2025, many will name Vanya Dmitrienko as their main crush. The singer is only 20 years old, but his songs easily surpass tracks by famous artists, and his concerts draw crowds of fans from teenage girls to their mothers. Despite his young age and cute appearance, Dmitrienko has many secrets—both from fans and his own family.

On the show «Mom, It»s Not Me« (18+), the singer, together with his mother Svetlana, shared what he was like before fame, what crime he committed as a child, and what he really thinks about his work.

»You«re Not Old Enough Yet»

When Vanya was three years old, he saw his older sister going to a theater studio and wanted to go with her. His mother, Svetlana Pavlova, tried to dissuade him in every way—convincing him that he was too young and couldn«t pass a difficult audition, but he didn»t give up. Then she resorted to a trick and asked her daughter«s supervisor to conduct a staged exam. However, it ended quite differently than she expected.

»I say, now we«ll hold an audition for Vanya, and he won»t be accepted. I don«t remember what poem he recited, but I definitely remember he sang »Horses in Apples.« And Elena Mikhailovna (the studio instructor. — Ed.) said: »Vanya, I really don«t know, you»re not old enough yet.« Then she turns to me and says: »Sveta, how can we not take him?« And they took him,» Svetlana said.

Vanya regularly went to classes, and even when his sister stopped dreaming of becoming an artist and switched to medicine, his passion didn«t go away. He also earned his first money on stage when he was still little.

»Vanya earned money by reciting a poem about tough metallurgists on Metallurgist Day. His first fee, 2000 rubles (about $22 at current rates), I framed for him, and they still stand on his windowsill,« Vanya»s mother revealed.

«Cross Me Out From Here»

His parents enrolled Vanya in various sections and clubs, hoping to find an activity that would truly suit him. He tried everything but quickly lost interest in almost all of them.

«He went to any club, and then would come and say: »Cross me out from here.« He tried to quit hockey very often, but we still took him there,» Vanya«s mother confessed.

Who knows what Dmitrienko would have become now, as his parents, no matter how Vanya resisted, continued to instill in him a love for sports. Only due to one accident did they have to forget about hockey.

»The kindergarten teacher started sympathizing with him, she said: «Maybe you»ll stop torturing the child?« And still we didn»t stop, but the stadium collapsed. Vanya prayed for that,« Svetlana said.

»I«ll Probably Be Sued»

In his school years, Vanya was not a goody-two-shoes at all. One of his frank stories is about a «life hack» at a fast-food restaurant, where with friends they would get multiple orders from one receipt.

«You come to McDonald»s… Oh, I«ll probably be sued, possibly for this. This is a sincere confession,» Dmitrienko began his confession with a laugh. «You come with a friend, and they give you a receipt. You show this receipt, pick up the order, and leave. Give the receipt to your friend, he comes, says: »My order was stolen.« And they make a second one. We ate like that all my childhood.»

«I Wrote Songs for Grisha»

Dmitrienko has known Grigory Leps for a long time. According to him, their collaboration began when he was still in school.

«I wrote songs for Grisha when I was in 9th grade,» Dmitrienko says.

The singers were friends, and on one of his birthdays, Leps gave Vanya an expensive gift—a diamond earring. Dmitrienko was delighted with it and wore it constantly, wherever he went.

«I decided to take up sports. Went to buy myself a uniform. I arrive, try on a T-shirt, and at that moment my earring falls off,» Dmitrienko recalls.

Feeling nothing, Vanya went to the gym and started working out. The earring might have been lost forever if a friend hadn«t been filming Dmitrienko»s workout.

«I look at the video and realize I don»t have the earring. I call the security guard, he picks up, and I say: «Please, check the camera, look.» And he eventually found the earring for me. After that, I put it in a safe and that«s it, never took it again,» Vanya assures.

«I»m Tired of Singing It«

Many fans learned about Dmitrienko after he released the track »Venus-Jupiter.« Four years have passed since the song»s release, but the singer continues to be associated with it and is asked to perform it more often than others.

According to Vanya, he loves his work, but singing the same thing has become quite tiring for him.

«I like it, I love my song… Maybe I»m a little tired of singing it sometimes,« Dmitrienko admitted uncertainly.

Dmitrienko«s favorite name is Eva. Moreover, since childhood, it has held such a sacred meaning for him that once he even rejected a girl named Eva because he thought dating her would be wrong.

»I always understood that my daughter would be named Eva, so at some point I even couldn«t date a girl because her name was Eva,» Dmitrienko revealed.
