St. Isaac's Cathedral to offer free entry for Montferrand's birthday

On January 23, St. Isaac«s Cathedral can be visited for free in honor of the 240th birthday of its architect, Auguste Montferrand.
A free ticket is required for entry and can be obtained at the museum«s ticket offices or from vending machines. Online booking is not available, but there is no limit on the number of tickets.
A morning flower-laying ceremony will be held at the portrait busts of Montferrand in the cathedral. Ticket offices are open from 10:00 to 17:30, and the museum itself is open until 18:00.
Access to the observation deck on the colonnade remains paid.
Auguste Montferrand was a French architect invited to St. Petersburg, where he created St. Isaac«s Cathedral and the Alexander Column. His other works include the Lobanov-Rostovsky House and the design for the monument to Nicholas I on St. Isaac»s Square.
