Just before New Year, a video went viral on social media showing semi-naked German ravers dancing to the track Vielleicht Vielleicht. Due to the difficult pronunciation of the German word, enthusiastic Russian women adapted the song«s name as »Filyay.« Soon, singer Dmitry Malikov joined the trend. He released a dance song »Filyay« and wrote that at a recent closed performance in Perm, girls asked him to »filyay.«

He opts to charm his audience with musical talent rather than physical exposure.

In late December last year, a video went viral showing semi-naked German ravers dancing to the track Vielleicht Vielleicht. The clip became especially popular among Russian women aged 30 and older. They adapted the German word to Russian as «Filyay» due to its complex pronunciation. The girls dubbed dancer Samuel Domen Semen and flooded him with compliments in the comments. Videos of guys dancing to this track were called the «ovulation anthem.»

Samuel himself does not know or understand Russian, so he asked his fans not to write to him in Russian. Opinions among the girls were divided: some defended the German, saying he has the right to such requests in his account, but most were offended and subscribed to his fellow dancers Yanik and Mike. In Russian manner, they renamed them Vanya and Misha. The young men quickly responded to comments from Russian women, filmed videos to «Kalinka-Malinka» and «Matushka-Zemlya» and even tried to speak Russian. Russian women were delighted with the guys and fell in love with them. Now «Semen» is trying to win back Russian women to his account by posting videos to the song «Katyusha,» but former subscribers compare this to their exes« attempts to rekindle relationships.

The video compiles fan dance clips and enthusiastic comments responding to his new song.

Pop singer Dmitry Malikov also joined the «Filyay» trend. First, he published a video in which he performed the melody of the German hit on the piano. Malikov playfully captioned it: «I»ll filyay whatever I want. You inspired me.« The video went viral, and in the comments, girls wrote thousands of compliments to the singer.

«The chance to see Malikov at the piano under »Filyay« is small, but never zero,» one of them said.

«When you»re at that age where you can steal anyone: mother, daughter, and fans,« wrote another follower.

«Dima doesn»t even need to undress; he flew into the Russian segment of «Filyay» without a balaclava and a bare belly. Learn from the best, guys,« stated one of the commenters.

The singer was inspired by the positive responses and the next day released a track in techno style, dedicating it to «all the Filyay girls and their moms.» His song has lines like:

Kiss-kiss (from German «kiss» — Ed.), my girl, the city sparkles,
Kiss-kiss, you lure me like a magnet,
Kiss-kiss, three stripes — a broken circle,
Kiss-kiss, the mayor of Filyaysk — your best friend.

On January 19, Dmitry Malikov performed at a closed anniversary party for the Perm developer «PMD». His concert was accessible only by invitation, given to the company«s partners. The singer performed 13 songs, including hits »Zvezda Moya Dalekaya« and »Ty Odna, Ty Takaya.« Malikov also shared that one of his first concerts took place in Perm.

Yesterday, Dmitry Malikov published another video to his techno track: the first video with the composition garnered 1.5 million views, and the singer thanked the girls for it. In the new video, he inserted enthusiastic comments from followers and asked them whether to release the anthem of Filyaysk and «re-filyay» the song, since the correct pronunciation is not «kiss-kiss» but «kuss-kuss.» Malikov wondered if he should add a techno set to his concerts.

«Do I need to add a techno set at concerts? Yesterday in Perm, you from the audience asked me to filyay! I adore you,» wrote Dmitry Malikov.
