Two Perm Universities Make World Ranking, Joining Oxford and Harvard

Perm State National Research University and Perm Polytechnic have been included in the world ranking of best universities. The list was published by the British agency Times Higher Education, which has been compiling it for over 15 years.

Perm State National Research University and Perm Polytechnic have made it into the world ranking of best universities. The list was published by the British agency Times Higher Education, which has been compiling it for over 15 years.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE World University Rankings) is an annual ranking of the world«s best universities by the British publisher Times Higher Education (THE). THE developed it in 2010 together with Thomson Reuters for the Global Institutional Profiles Project.
Experts publish the World University Rankings annually. It is compiled based on more than ten key aspects of university activities. For example, experts assess teaching quality, research level, and international collaboration. In the 2026 ranking, there are 2,191 universities, eight of which are Russian.
The leaders are Oxford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The top 10 also include Princeton, Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, the California Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, Berkeley, and Yale.
The Perm universities fell into the «1501+» category. First in the list is Perm Polytechnic, followed by PSNRU — the universities are listed in alphabetical order. Some indicators at Perm Polytechnic were slightly higher than at Perm State University: teaching quality, research conditions and quality, as well as opportunities for integrating research results into industry. However, the level of international collaboration is higher at PSNRU. Nevertheless, the total score for both Perm universities is the same.
