Rostov Universities in Global Ranking Evaluated by Experts

The analytical portal Times Higher Education has published the results of the world university rankings. Such rankings are compiled annually. It includes several universities from Rostov Oblast.
In total, more than three thousand universities participated in the ranking. The top three included the University of Oxford in Britain, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US, and Princeton University.
International experts included nearly a hundred universities from Russia in the ranking. However, their profiles on the official website are frozen. Among Russian universities, the leaders in the international list were considered to be Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. But in the updated ranking, their scores were likely not recalculated.
The ranking mentions Southern Federal University and Don State Technical University.
Rostov State University of Economics and South Russian Polytechnic University named after Platov (NPI) submitted their data for evaluation. But they did not enter the main list, remaining in the participant category.
The Times Higher Education ranking evaluates universities based on key areas of activity: teaching level, research, international cooperation, and scientific productivity.
Earlier it was reported that Russia is beginning to abolish bachelor«s and master»s degrees. From September 2026, they will start mass testing a new system of higher education. From 2027, in all universities across the country, bachelor«s, master»s, and specialist degrees will be replaced with basic, specialized, and professional higher education.
Already this year the procedure for admission to universities will change. For example, it will not be possible to submit documents through the university website.
