Farmers in Rostov region, affected by the drought in 2025, have faced difficulties in extending loans. This support measure was previously offered to them by the authorities. It turned out that the conditions for obtaining it are too strict. This was stated by Governor Yury Slyusar.
«Essentially, one needs to be on the brink of bankruptcy. To receive assistance, agricultural producers must have acts of crop write-off due to federal-level natural emergencies. This approach is established by federal legislation. However, write-off acts are not issued for all affected,» he explained.
This issue can only be resolved at the federal level by changing the conditions for credit extensions. Slyusar instructed Rostov region Minister of Agriculture Anna Kasyanenko to «thoroughly understand» the problem.
The governor added that out of 89 loans planned for extension, 34 have been extended for Rostov region farmers. The total volume of restructured debts for villagers should exceed one billion rubles (approximately $10 million at current rates).
As reported by 161.RU, in Rostov region in 2025, first frosts and the subsequent drought caused the worst grain harvest in the last 10 years. A state of emergency was introduced in 28 districts, which was only lifted at the end of the year.
