Kurgan Oblast Authorities Cut State Debt by Billions

Kurgan Oblast plans to pay off 6 billion rubles (approximately $60 million) in state debt by the end of 2026.
In Kurgan Oblast, by the end of 2025, the region«s state debt amounted to 9.1 billion rubles (approximately $91 million). Over the past year, it decreased by 6.7 billion rubles (about $67 million), as reported in the Telegram channel of the regional authorities.
«Since 2018, the ratio of state debt to the budget»s own revenues has decreased more than fivefold and stands at 16.6%. By the end of this year, the specified volume of state debt is planned to be reduced by almost 6 billion rubles (about $60 million), and its ratio to own revenues will decrease to 6%,« wrote the head of the region in the messenger MAX.
He added that all «expensive» commercial loans have been replaced with «cheap» budgetary loans from the federal budget at a minimal rate, which has significantly reduced the cost of servicing them.
It is worth noting that the budget of Kurgan Oblast for 2025 exceeded the 100 billion ruble mark (approximately $1 billion) for the first time in its history, increasing by 11% compared to the 2024 level. At the same time, the budget«s own revenues grew by 24%.
